Sessions At Podcamp Philly

For some of you new to Podcamp and other Unconferences, it may seem odd not to have a schedule available of sessions far in advance of the event.   Because the community can propose and present sessions, often there are sessions being added to the schedule up until the last moment.  But to let you know what to expect at Podcamp Philly, we'll try to highlight some of the sessions here on the blog.

One of the things I am excited about is Pecha Kucha and Battledecks.

Pecha Kucha is when presenters have 20 slides, and only 20 seconds allowed per slide for their presentation, making a presentation just shy of 7 minutes long.  This lightening fast sessions test your presentation skill, and can be loads of fun!  If you are interested in participating in pecha Kucha, please drop an email to Whitney at podcampp@gmail.com with Pecha Kucha in the title.

Battledecks is another presentation challenge.  Like Pecha Kucha, each presenter is giving 20 slides, with about 30 seconds per slide, but the speaker has no idea what slide is coming up next.  This means we have a total improv presentation, based on the surprise slides that randomly go up.  This form of Improv presentation is kind of like Mad Libs meets Pecha Kucha, and is a great way to hone your presentation skills.  If you are interested, please drop an email to Whitney at podcampp@gmail.com with Battledecks in the subject line.

(We're trying to get some prizes to award for both Pecha Kucha and Battledecks for the best presentations, as an incentive to participate. )

Both of these sessions will help you home your presentation skills, so even if you don't have your slides, or the wrong slide deck goes up, you'll never lose your mojo again.  And it's great fun for the audience as well, as you watch people think on their feet in true new media Improv.
