Podcamp-Just a few days away!
It's just a day before our kick-off event for Podcamp Philly, and I thought it was an important time to thank all of the people, behind the scenes, who put so much into making this event possible. So let me introduce the organizers of this year's event and introduce them to you, so when you meet them at Podcamp, you'll know who to thank!
Bill Rowland-Bill joined the Podcamp Philly group right after BlogPhiladelphia last year. He rapidly proved to be indispensible, and has come back this year as a Lead Organizer. Bill has a great podcast of his own, The Philly Food Guys, all about the great "underground eats" in town- so you have any questions about where to grab a bite, he's the guy to ask! Bill has done tireless work, and even got his lovely wife Patti involved in helping out, from putting together the event guide, desiging logos for SearchCamp, making sure things get printed, doing the leg work for the Friday night party and much more. Bill is dedicated and he is the perfect partner in making this event a reality- Thanks Bill!
Li Evans-Li Evans gave me a call last year after Podcamp Philly, wanting to put on a similar event dealing with Search , SEO and SEM. It became clear there was a lot the podcasters and New Media people I knew needed more information on optimizing their sites, and we could help the people interested in SEO/SEM learn about production, new media and social media as well. By working together with Li and her friends in the SEO community, we've been able to put a POdcamp and SearchCamp toegther that meets the needs of the community, allowing everyone to learn and grow together. Li herself has the energy of Google, and it's been a pleasure getting to know her this year.
Paul Muller Paul works at Temple, and has been instrumental in having the event hosted there this year, along with Jena from the Fox Business School . I met Paul through my own blog, when he left a comment on a post I wrote about caffiene.- he's well known as a guy who can tell you all about roasting your own coffee and the joys of consumption like a true gourmet, and produces the Caffination podcast, about the joys of coffee. I met Paul in person at Podcamp Philly last year, when he spoke highly of Temple, and that they would love to host Podcamp. Paul and Jena have helped us out tremendously, making sure everyone at Temple was excited and enthused about Podcamp, and making all those details, like wi-fi access, happen. And above it all, he is simply a great guy and a pleasure to work with- please make sure to thank Paul for all his work!
Beth Harte-Beth is part of our marketing and PR team, along with Bill Rowland and Christopher Penn of the Podcamp Foundation, - a.k.a. The Ninja. Beth has been fantastic and deidicated to helpiing us get the word out about Podcamp and SearchCamp. Along with the skills of Chris Penn, we've reached a wider audience than before, and that's a wonderful thing for growing the tech, new media and social media community in Philly.
Adam Plante-Adam has been with Podcamp Philly ever since it was a mere glint in the eyes of many of us after the first Podcamp Boston. He's taught us all to use a drupal based website, dealt with tech problems on the ground last year and this, and I could not be more thankful to Adam, Rand Bradbury and the other rgeat guys from the House of Geek from being our own personal Geek Squad. You guys Rule!
Denis Sinelnikov-Denis came on last year, a short time before the first Podcamp Philly, and helped us out tremendously with banners, signage and other printing needs. Denis has been fantastic with helping out with the website this year and with the PR needs, making sure we have all the signage, sponsor signs and other logistical needs taken care of. While you will see evidence of Denis's work, it's often easy to take for granted, but his help has made my job so much less stressful. Thanks Denis!
Alan Chaess-Alan runs a podcast called Otaku Generation, and he does a great job using those skills to help us produce audio and video for Podcamp Philly. Alan is always right there when we need him, and I can't thank him enough for doing this each year.
Linda Mills- Linda is sometimes called a New Media Mom, because she helps us all stay on track. She is the voice of the community, and always help us stay true to the community nature of Podcasting and social media. I first met Linda through Chris Brogan at Podcamp Toronto, and found out she lived only a few miles away from me, further solidifying my resolve that we needed an event in Philly to bring our community together- it is ridiculous to have to go to another Country to meet your neighbors who share the same interest as you do. Linda helps out at the registration desk and is presenting this year as well. I am so glad that we have become friends, over and above Podcamp- she always has a sense of the right thing to do, and I appreciate her counsel!
Steve Lubetkin-Steve, a.k.a. Podcast Steve, is known for his production of outstanding professional audio and video, which he produces for clients large and small. Steve is part of PRSA, and missed out on attending Podcamp last year due to a scheduling conflict, but we're so glad he'll be able to attend this year in person. Steve is incredibly well connected, and always has a great insight and strategy to share. He's another great reason why i am proud to be involved with Podcamp Philly each year.
Lisa B. Marshall- her jobs have kept her from participating this year, but Lisa has been helpful behind the scenes, and I want to make sure how much she knows we appreciate her.
I am sure, in the fray, I have forgotten someone. For now, thanks to you all, thanks for making the event possible, and know how much the whole community is proud of what we've accomplished.
